Cold Steel Quality -- Highland Functionality, Nov 15, 2009
Reviewer: Matt Strachan of De Kalb, IL
Cold Steel's version of a sgian dubh, the "Brave Heart," far exceeded my expectations. Its sharp edge on one side provides strength against breakage from twisting or bending and comes honed razor sharp to a dagger point. Decorative notches on the reverse side of the blade help identify it by feel: lest you accidentally push down on the blade side with your thumb. Its versatility and functionality has made it my main choice for a wide variety of applications. And it's a terrific buy for less than $70! Thanks for the free Cold Steel video too, Seamus.

A 6 out of 5, Apr 24, 2010

Worth it. Perfect balance. Paper slicing/body hair shaving sharp. Sheath clips nicely in your hose/flashes. A blade you'd nearly take to a gunfight!

Scots of old...would have loved this, Oct 20, 2010
Reviewer: Griffin of Daytona/Florida
This is not your typical ceremonial blade. This can go to work with you, ride on your person tucked almost anywhere and be available for those intimate moments when you need a little friend. It retrieves to the hand by feel--good for use in the dark. The sheath is usable with or without the belt clip which snaps in place or out. Like any fine weapon, it does require cleaning, despite being stainless steel, some substances will stick to the metal and appear to be stains. A good cleaning will remove all evidence that it has been used, however.

Cold Steel sgean dubh(s), Dec 24, 2010
Reviewer: George Whitaker of 76010
This knife is plus one versatile and strong. My wife made a traditional pocket sheath so that I could wear it in my kilt hose as normal. Cold Steel also makes a plastic model that is my normal wear item in the same sheath. It is the first plastic that I have seen with a cutting edge. I normally wear the plastic since it does not pull down the hose at all. Camping or as necessary, I switch to the steel Cold Steel so that I have a cutting edge for utility purposes.
